Don’t miss the award-winning film, “The 9 O’Clock Whistle,” which will be shown via Zoom by LWVNC and LWV Dare County on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
On Saturday nights at 9 o’clock in the small, segregated town of Enfield, North Carolina, officials blew a siren-like whistle directing all the Black citizens to clear the downtown streets.
In the voices of those who lived it, “The Nine O’Clock Whistle” documents how a movement from 1963 to 1965 changed the town forever.
Producers Willa Cofield and Karen Riley will join us for this event.
