Record Number of Local Candidate Events Offered by the League

This election season there are large numbers of candidates running for local government positions.

This local enthusiasm for people offering to run for office has led to candidate events being offered in various sized and geographically spread out municipalities--Maiden, Conover and Hickory.  (Newton has 9 candidates vying for three Council seats. See details below.)

Events will take two formats—Meet the Candidates and a Candidate Forum. In the first, citizens are welcome to come, stroll around the room and talk to the candidates informally and personally. In the forum, there will be a moderator and the opportunity for the candidates to respond to questions for the group. All candidates in these races have been invited to attend.
